Welcome to the Music Department.
We hope you find this page both useful and interesting. We are a small department with a lot going on. Pupils have the opportunity for individual tuition and for group music making.
Taking part in some form of musical activity plays an important part in people’s lives and we strongly encourage all pupils to take part in an activity at some point in their school career. We offer Junior Choir, Senior Choir, String Group, and Wind Band. Pupils are also encouraged to make their own groups and perform in school and community based events.
Music is one of the main creative and aesthetic subjects for pupils in the school. Our courses follow the national 5-14 guidelines in the Lower School. In the third and fourth year pupils can take the subject at Intermediate or Standard Grade Level, some of our most talented pupils are given the chance to be 'fast tracked' onto the Higher course. In fifth and sixth year pupils can take the subject at Advanced Higher, Higher, Intermediate or Access Level.
As well as Music:With Peforming we now also offer the course Music: With Technology and Performing.
